We are always on the lookout for great days out and adventures with the kids, but away from the hustle and bustle of adventure parks and the more frequented walks and great parks we have around us.

Looking to reconnect with nature and take some time out? Then we’ve got the perfect place for you to choose from right here!

Pulborough Brooks is famous for it’s great RSPB centre and reserve where you can spot a range of different birds and wildlife as you venture through the paths, grasses and woodlands, but it is also worth exploring the woods to the left of the car park too. The Wooded Heathland Trail boasts stunning views across the South Downs, Pulborough Brooks is not only a fantastic walk with incredible views, various paths and terrain to explore and navigate but is also home to a variety of habitats and wildlife.

Knepp Estate is 3,500 acres of pioneering rewilding projects and home to rare species like deer, falcons, turtle doves, emperor butterflies, cows, rabbits and so much more! The driving principle of Knepp is to establish a functioning ecosystem where nature is given as much freedom as possible. Within Knepp Estate there are over 16 miles of public and permissive footpaths , which cover an area of 3,500 acres, and five tree viewing-platforms, close to public footpaths, offering wonderful views of the countryside. There is also a bird-hide overlooking Knepp Lake. There are also various coloured trails to follow (pick up a map from the car park) dependant on your ability and experience and which wildlife/areas of the estate you want to view on your adventure! A fantastic project and opportunity to give back to nature and witness some rare species in their natural habitat.

Slightly further afield, but definitely worth a visit is the amazing Bedelands Farm Nature Reserve in Burgess Hill. With 33 Hectares of nature and green space, Bedelands is a nature lover’s haven. Within the reserve is 7 meadows, set within the ancient woodlands with wildflowers aplenty, Bedelands is a beauty spot at all times of the year.

Bedelands is also home to a number of ponds of varying sizes, even offering one with a platform for pond dipping.

Deeper along the woodlands and nature trails is a stunning waterfall leading into a smaller mill pond; Bedelands truly does have it all.
