It’s almost the most wonderful time of the year and we are so lucky in West Sussex to have so many local events and opportunities to get us into the festive spirit and make this Chirstmas magical.

The Bluebell Railway has some magical festivities planned this year, with their annual ‘Santa Specials’ where families can book a ride on the stunning train, enjoy mince pies and chocolate coins in your private compartment before heading to meet Santa in his carriage and choosing a toy from his workshop, all as you enjoy the stunning countryside journey between the stations.
This year, the railway are also introducing Bluebell Steam Lights; a twilight adventure with the stunning trains covered in the brightest, vibrant lights, lighting up the tracks as your travel through the countryside on board these beautiful locomotives, add a picnic box to your ticket and sit back, enjoy the ride and get in the festive spirit on your journeys and watch how the countryside is illuminated as you travel through it.
Our local National Trust gardens always offer up a festive treat and this year is no different; with Nymans and Sheffield Park offering a gorgeous Percy The Parkkeeper winter activity trail; making learning about how to keep our environment and wildlife safe, fun and festive for the whole family as well as Wakehurst putting on their annual mystical woodland light and lantern trail as Glow Wild make its return for another winter.
Leonardslee Gardens are also offering a spectacular winter illumination trail around their stunning gardens this year with a new trail route, incredible illuminations, large scale projections as well as musical and theatrical performances as you meander around the woodland trail.
