With Christmas being a little different this year, many of us are itching to start getting festive and start decorating, but where are the best places to buy real Christmas trees this year?!
Experts warn not to buy your tree too soon (as real trees generally have around a 4-week shelf-life) but many are looking to put in an order for collection or delivery.
The famous Sussex Trees in Ardingly, offer a variety of 7 trees which are grown and nurtured throughout the year. Amongst some of the 1,500 trees on offer, Sussex Trees grow and sell; Nordman Fir and Nordic Spruce as well as their speciality Sussex Fir. In addition to this, at their new location at Goddenwick Farm, you can either visit their reindeers, sheep and donkeys! Sussex Trees also have a location slightly further afield at the Northdown Plantation in East Sussex, so you can really make a festive day full of memories as you choose the perfect tree for your home this year!
Furze Firs are locating near Horsham and this plantation is a family run location and frequented by owls, hedgehogs and skylarks! Furze Firs specialise in non-drop Nordman trees and you even have the opportunity to cut down your own tree once you’ve selected it if you want a truly authentic selection process. Furze Firs also offer the option to purchase pot-grown, thus ready to go, trees for planting into your garden!
Following Covid-19 guidelines, if you wish to visit, purchase and collect from Furze Firs on the weekend you will need to book a one-hour slot online.
Another family-run gem, Fox Hill Christmas Trees in Haywards Heath have been planting and growing Christmas trees since 1993 and selling them for over 10 years. With an eclectic array on offer ranging from Nordmann Fir to Blue Spruce and Noway Spruce, Fox Hill provide a personal and friendly service to help you find the perfect tree.
New House Farm Christmas Trees, Horsham, value the importance of a high-quality tree and offer a personal and professional service, advising you based upon features and aspects of your desired room in order to match you with the perfect tree. You can freely walk through the farm’s ‘forest’ with all trees un-netted until you’ve made your selection to give you an authentic and truly memorable experience.
Slightly further afield, but worth the journey if you’re looking to make a day of it is the wonderful Wylds Farm Christmas Trees. Located on the border of West Sussex and Hampshire, Christmas Spirit lives on here by the bucketful! In order to comply with Covid-19 guidelines, Wylds Farm currently has a ticket system in place, to monitor visitor numbers but you will be able to head over and pick your own tree once lockdown is lifted on 2nd December.
A more socially distanced service is on offer at Balcombe Estate Sawmill and trees are already cut and netted for a drive-thru collection, still an incredibly high-quality tree and in the most picturesque setting, but maybe more of a preferable option if you’re running out of time or you can only choose a tree on a busier day!
Wherever you choose this year, we hope you have the most festive and memorable day with your family and find the perfect tree for your home! Who knew we had so many options available to us locally?!
Merry Christmas everyone!
