The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) was established 45 years ago and is the UK’s largest grassroots business campaigning group, ensuring the voice of small businesses is heard at the highest level across the UK. FSB also provides business services and products to our members. Our aim is to help smaller businesses achieve their ambitions.
Led by a team of our members for the benefit of all of our members, we’re a proudly not-for-profit organisation with the best interests of our self-employed and small business members at the heart of everything we do. Local support, networking, business benefits provided at no extra cost and a powerful voice heard in government are just a few of the reasons why we’re the organisation of choice for small businesses and the self-employed across the UK.
Membership is personal and covers any businesses you’re involved in. The annual fee is based on how many employees you have (starting at £147 per annum). Your membership covers a huge range of benefits:
Networking: A busy calendar of virtual events, including networking and business surgeries designed to help you find advice, support and guidance for your small business during the COVID-19 pandemic. Events are free and open to all small businesses and the self-employed across the UK.
Campaigns: We work with policy makers and politicians at every level, across the UK and Europe. We raise awareness of the issues affecting our members’ businesses and campaign for changes in the law on these issues.
- Brexit has loomed large and our Transition Hub is designed to support small businesses and the self-employed through information and guidance on the new trading arrangements and procedures in place, including importing and exporting and living and working in the UK.
- The Good Business Foundation: an adaptation of The Good Business Charter. An independent not-for-profit organisation with a mission to encourage and recognise responsible business practices.
- Kickstart: Teaming up with Adecco Working Ventures to become an official intermediary for the Government’s £2bn Kickstart Scheme, playing a key role in rebuilding the UK’s economy and supporting young people into sustainable employment. Kickstart aims to create thousands of high-quality six-month work placements for young people aged 16 to 24 who are claiming Universal Credit and are at risk of long-term unemployment.
Skills Hub: Running your own business means you have to be an expert not only in your own field, but also in marketing, social media, accounting, HR – the list goes on! We have created the FSB skills hub to support you with the resources you need to ensure business continuity in the immediate future and for the longer term.
Free Guides: We have put together a number of free guides for our Members, helping with a range of topics: Business basics, Small Business Tax, Digital Marketing, Basic Bookkeeping to name a few.
Other Benefits: On top of all the networking, campaigning, skills and guides the FSB offer a range of other support to their members at no extra cost, such as Legal protection, Employment protection, Health & Safety advice, a Legal Hub, Cyber protection and Health care.
