As the days get crisper and the leaves browner as autumn finally descends on us, who is looking forward to some autumnal and seasonal half term adventures?

In this blog we’ve put together some of the local activities and experiences on offer this half term, from seasonal walks and trails to Spooktacular special events, we’ve got something for everyone.

Now, for the Julia Donaldson fans amongst us, Wakehurt (National Trust) have an interactive ‘Gruffalo’s Child’ trail running from 16th – 31st October, not only can you follow the trail but you can also sign up to make a Stickman friend and join in a cookery camp too!

For the budding astronauts in your life, Chichester Cathedral is home to the incredible Museum of The Moon; featuring NASA imagery of the lunar surface, this exhibition is not to be missed. The exhibition will be at Chichester Cathedral from 25th October to 14th November.

Ferring Scarecrow Trail is back for another year after last year’s success and will run from 23rd -30th October; trail the village and find all of the scarecrows listed on the map (downloadable online!) there were some incredible entries last year, so this promises to be bigger and better than ever before. 

Playful Penguins are hosting their annual Halloween Special in Worthing, Goring Greensward on Saturday 30th October; with two sessions available 10.30-11.30 or 1-2pm, there will be Halloween themed messy play galore, Halloween hunt, a spooky story and a goody bag included for every child.

For older children, APW Art House are running a Half-Term Art club for children 6 years and up, with a range of topics, themes and skills, this is the perfect half term club for children to express themselves and create! 

Slightly further afield, why not celebrate Halloween at Cowdray Ruins; follow the trail around the castle ruins, listen to spooky stories and learn all about knights in armour and visit the birds of prey; this promises to be a Spooktacular event for the whole family!
