Now, we are all about the children here at WOMADS, but isn’t it about time us parents got the chance to plan a lovely day trip and enjoy ourselves!?

Well, if you’re looking for something to do with your friends or your partner once the sunshine returns, then how about a wonderful wine-tasting session at one of the stunning Sussex vineyards that we are lucky enough to have within our locality.

Here we’ve collated some of the best (in our opinion!) of the vineyards within Sussex, as ever, if we’ve missed one that deserves shouting about, please let us know. Cheers!

Did you know that a stone’s throw away in lovely Wiston is the most beautiful and well-  stocked vineyard, nestled within the rolling 16 acres of the vineyard is Wiston’s incredible Wine Barn.

Wiston offers everything from Vineyard Tours to Wine Tasting as well as Wine Pairing and a Vineyard Food experience.

Wine and Dine Dinner evenings are also available in the Wine Barn with seasonal food, paired with the best Wiston Wines, a gorgeous 3 courses follows a sparkling wine reception on arrival, coupled with stunning views and tutored notes as you dine, it’s clear to see why these experiences sell out fast, so be quick when the next ones become available!

Now open as part of the stunning Bolney Wine Estate is their new indoor and outdoor eating experience, the Eighteen Acre Cafe; which enables you to enjoy the incredible food and wine produced here, all within the stunning expanse of the vineyard.

Vineyard tours are also available at Bolney and you’ll marvel at the vast variety of grapes that grow throughout the acres of vines and how these become your favourite wine.

Another attraction at Bolney is the gorgeous wine bar barrel tables which you can book for tasting or just a glass of wine and nibbles; Bolney really do have it all!

A lesser known, hidden gem is the incredible Oastbrook Estate in Robertsbridge. The vineyard tours provided by owner and winemaker America are fun, informative and memorable to say the very least and there are a range of different tours available dependant on when you want to visit, the season or what you’d like included. There’s even a tour for the kids to explore all of the incredible sights and smells of the vineyard.

All of the vines have been planted and grown by America and the estate is a real family affair and you’ll never be made to feel more welcome anywhere else, not to mention the incredible variety of wine on offer to taste and buy too!

The Tinwood Estate’s vineyards are situated in the heart of West Sussex at the foot of the South Downs National Park. Since the first planting in 2007, Tinwood has quickly established a reputation for producing the very finest English sparkling wines.

Tours at Tinwood include a visit into the vineyard as well as a tasting experience, enabling you to meet the winegrowers themselves. You can even stay for an extra glass and enjoy the stunning views with some nibbles after your tour too as well as purchase some of the finest wines within our locality before you head home!
